Frequently Asked Questions
What IS Femdom Community Connections exactly? FCC provides advertising and networking opportunities for the Femdom community in SL. Advertising with us is FREE, and we provide a number of resources that support venues and stores. Today, we have around 1400 members, 41 Affiliates that include Femdom and Femdom-friendly venues and stores, a weekly Open House on Saturdays at 3:30pm, and our FCC HUD, which gives you the ability to access all affiliated venues and stores, access to the FCC Community Calendar and it’s events, and teleport you directly to venues, stores and events from anywhere on the grid. You can come find out more about FCC by visiting the kiosk and joining us weekly on Saturdays for Open House at 3:30 pm SLT or via our LinkTree (https://linktr.ee/FCCinSL).
Where does The MELD fit in? For many years we have received feedback from our community members of their desire to have an event that brings us all together. The MELD was borne out of that desire to connect, and founded on the core values of safety, consent and respect. You'll often hear us share our goal at FCC of building bridges, not islands. We are passionate about this and want to showcase the diversity of Femdom that our community has to offer.
What IS The MELD exactly? The Meld Femdom Convention is an annual 10-day event in September held in Second Life, dedicated to the celebration and exploration of female dominance and empowerment. Offering a variety of workshops, performances, shopping and social events suitable for all interests and experience levels in a femdom-friendly environment. It’s a unique opportunity to learn from the community and connect with like-minded individuals from around the grid. The convention aims to create a supportive and inclusive environment for participants to embrace the principles of femdom, and explore femdom culture, relationships, and lifestyle. We invite anyone interested in learning about Femdom and connecting with the community to join us! Attendance is not limited to just those in Femdom.
If The MELD is for the Femdom community, why are other members of the BDSM community invited? The MELD isn’t just for the Femdom community. It is an event to showcase the Femdom community. It is a great opportunity to provide a peek Behind the Mask to get others curious and interested in Femdom. Our Femdom-friendly allies are active supporters and advocates of Femdom. We have a number of Femdom-friendly affiliates who have hosted fundraising events for The MELD, attended Planning Committees, purchased sponsorships to support events at The MELD, and have volunteered to host social events. And it’s not just the Femdom-friendly community who is invited to celebrate and learn with us. Vanilla and BDSM-curious folks are welcome too!
If someone wants to attend The MELD, how do they do that? There is a public / free area to the event and a private / paid area. The free area includes all the femdom/fetish shopping, a performance area for music events and product demonstrations as well as a social area. Some of our fabulous Meld vendors have provided free gifts so don’t miss out! The private / paid area includes access to the complete event schedule including play parties, lifestyle education discussions & workshops, fetish play areas, pony show, games and additional musical acts. For an ALL ACCESS pass for all 10 days, simply join THE MELD FEMDOM CONVENTION group for L$250 donation that helps ensure we have another Meld next year!
Is there any BDSM protocol expected from attendees? We provide an event titler so attendees have the option to interact as an Observer or Participant. For those who choose the role of Participant, there is minimal BDSM protocol expected. S-types are instructed to avoid furniture and use honorifics unless otherwise permitted by their Dominant. And that’s it. Any other engagement in protocol between attendees is strictly by obtaining consent. There is also a Code of Conduct provided to all attendees that essentially boils down to “don’t be a dick and respect one another.” Outside of that, we expect you to enjoy yourself, ask questions, interact with each other, make new friends, find new interests, buy some shit from our vendors PRETTY PLEASE as well as visit our Event Sponsors.
How can community members support FCC and The MELD? FCC's continued success would not be possible without the community! If you'd like to donate your time or talents to FCC, contact the team by visiting the FCC Kiosk. We’re seeking LSL scripters, meshers, builders, planners, motivators & innovators. If you'd like to make a monetary donation, there are tip jars throughout The MELD. FCC is not-for-profit. All staff and contributors are volunteers. All donations are used to cover the continuation of annual events and invest in the future of Femdom in SL. And, of course, one of the most effective ways to show your support is to visit our Affiliates. Get out on the grid and be present. Participate in the community. Foster connections. And as our dear friends the Foxes say, “Let your freak flag fly!”
Anything else I should know? Many FCC affiliates are present at The MELD, so be sure to check out the affiliate display area that will offer LM’s and information about each affiliate in our network. The Meld has a website featuring our Calendar of Events and will host the Event Brochure available in September. Reach out to an FCC Admin or Ambassador with your questions and don’t forget to join FCC to stay informed of events in our community. The MELD is a labor of love from your Femdom community, its volunteers, and your allies. Thank you to everyone who showed up to make this happen. Finally, please enjoy yourselves and have fun!
About
The MELD is born of a desire to bring community together. In doing so, we recognize the unique beauty in all members and the diversity in which we practice our lifestyle. By coming together and sharing our individualities, we experience growth and strengthening throughout the community.
MELD Logo
The design is created of stone and metal, raw materials brought together to be used in the refining process and melding the metals together.
The mountains come together forming the letter M, for The MELD.
They are made of gold and silver and represent the Dominant and the submissive. Both mountains are the same size, equally valued, strong and grounded, though the silver mountain has lowered itself before the gold, reflecting the exchange of power.
Each mountain is drawn as four lines, representing the foundation values of The MELD.
