FCC Quarterly Community Newsletter

Introduction

Welcome to the July Edition of the FCC Community Newsletter. FCC has several exciting milestones to update the community on...

The FCC HUD

What-the-HUD??!!

On May 15th, 2023 FCC launched its first tool to the community, the FCC HUD. The HUD in many ways is a digitized format of one of FCC’s original feature benefits, the FCC Newsletter. The FCC Newsletter was a notecard circulated quarterly featuring a compilation of all affiliated venues and their contact information including notecards, social & educational events, and landmarks. This provided a resource for anyone in our community to have on-hand and circulate at-will.

In addition to Newsletter curation & distribution, FCC’s inworld Kiosk provides advertising for each affiliated venue, customized branded boards that deliver similar information specific to each venue, when clicked by SecondLife residents.

The FCC Kiosk–in Your Pocket!

With the HUD, residents now have the FCC Kiosk and list of affiliated venues in their pockets. Community members no longer require the Newsletter notecard and instead access up-to-date information on all FCC affiliated venues and stores and can teleport directly to the venues, stores and events. The HUD also provides quick and easy access to the events in the FCC Community calendar as well as other FCC resources for affiliates and members. HUD updates occur weekly, so information is fresh and up-to-date. In a future release, affiliates will be able to manage and update information themselves via a web browser.

FCC Newsletter Format Significantly Changes

The new FCC Newsletter format is now completely digital and just as easy to circulate as before, now with a weblink. Even better is simply passing the HUD to residents interested in exploring the Femdom lifestyle in SecondLife. Residents can access the Newsletter, browse the Affiliate Library to visit those locations, review the FCC Community Calendar of Events and teleport directly to venues, events & shopping.

New HUD Features!

This month, significant improvements have been achieved with the HUD.

One significant change you’ll notice immediately is the HUD now ships in a box that requires unpacking. Simply add the object to your avatar or rezz to the ground and the object will automatically prompt you to unpack. Delete the shipping box afterward.

Once the package is unpacked, locate the FCC HUD Package vX.X.X folder in your inventory. The folder has three objects: a Help Notecard, a Smartphone HUD object and an optional Smartphone hand-held object.

  • Smartphone HUD - this object attaches like a normal HUD. It is REQUIRED to use the FCC HUD.

  • Smartphone hand-held - this object is now optional. Wearing the item animates your avatar and when the on-screen HUD is minimized, hides the hand-held object. After maximizing the on-screen HUD, the hand-held device reappears & animates your avatar. The hand-held object is not required to be worn/attached to operate the on-screen HUD.

Also of note are these new improvements & features:

  • optimizing the scripting for 60% improvement in memory function,

  • the addition of World Map button for each affiliate,

  • a marketplace link (if your venue is a store),

  • a lock feature to prevent the HUD from being removed and

  • affiliates may now provide SOCIAL MEDIA information for display in the HUD. To include your venue's social media details (discord, blogs, facebook, flickr, vimeo/youtube, etc.), contact Ashe (astarteh.mysterious) inworld, via Discord @devi_ashe (DeviThyme#9193), or any other FCC Admin (contact information below).

Special mention of THANKS goes out to Nivx, a LSL beast and FCC’s most recent developer/programmer volunteer, for contributing his time and talent to optimize and improve the community HUD.

FCC Information Kiosk 2023

FCC Quarterly Community Newsletter

Introduction

May has already started with many exciting milestones for FCC, and there are a few more very close around the corner. The most notable, thus far, has been the launch of the FCC HUD!!

The FCC HUD

The FCC HUD is a wonderful advancement for FCC and the Femdom community. With this HUD, community members will be able to access up to date information on all FCC affiliated venues and stores, find events in the FCC calendar, teleport directly to the venues, stores and events. The HUD includes functions to browse the venues and stores by category to help you find what you are looking for in our ever-growing community, provides direct access via web link to FCC resources and much much more. Be sure to get your hands on a copy of the FCC HUD through the FCC group notices or at the FCC Information Kiosk. We encourage everyone to pass the HUD to any friends or community members as a way of linking them in with information about the Femdom community in SL. This is also a great way to support the venues and stores who provide so much for us all.

As we introduce the FCC HUD you will notice some significant changes to the newsletter format. We will no longer list affiliate venues and their information in text via SL notecard. We are instead now able to deliver all that same information, and more, through the HUD. One of the greatest advantages of this upgrade is that we will now be able to provide you updates on a weekly basis. When new venues and stores come on board, or an affiliate updates their details, we will send out the update directly to the users.

We would like to offer our gratitude to those in the Femdom community, and our friends in the wider BDSM community, who assisted in bringing this HUD into being. It has taken us over 8 months, and countless hours, but we are delivering, with the help of:

  • Ashe (Astarteh Mysterious) - Project Manager

  • Michael (bubblesort.triskaidekaphobia) - HUD Developer #superstar

  • Rick Gearbox (concept design) and Chris Banner (cuffhound) (scripting assist)

  • James Griffin (jamesgriphon), Soen Ember, Thrall magic, Persephone Whitesong, ღJαℳεε Sαȿȿαƒґαȿღ (jameesassafras), luanamae Heartsong, Lady Leigh (leigh.huet), QUEEN DELORES (delores.beaumont), Nemesys Graves (oONemesysOo), -SouL- (soul.evergarden) , Les Kira, ally Nova, LB Hush, Thandi Rhiadra, Cash Nova (cybertankgirl), Tayler Raynier, Adius Curzi (adiabatic) and the FCC Staff (Nalla, Val, Tenderly and Tall) - All showed up in various ways throughout the process to help make this happen.

FCC Information Kiosk Move

This month we will also be moving and updating the FCC Information Kiosk. This move is reflective of the growth we are seeing in our community through 'The MELD' project (more below). We have been welcoming new venues and stores, along with seeing an increasing number of community members volunteering their time to help create The MELD. The move of the FCC Information Kiosk brings space for this expansion as well as a modernizing of the appearance and functionality.

Alongside the move in location, you will also begin to see a refresh of the FCC branding. The cosmetic change to the logo is cleaner and more modern, but has kept the original color scheme. FCC information resources will move to the web and will be accessible through links provided in the HUD, at the FCC Information Kiosk, and in a reduced set of notecards in SL. With all these upgrades happening we want to reassure the community that the core goals and vision of FCC remains unchanged. We are still committed and focused on connecting the Femdom community members with venues, events and resources in SL to express their lifestyle, enhance their experience and grow as individuals. We are here to assist our affiliate venues and stores with advertising and networking, aiming to see them grow and flourish. We are all one community, supporting each other.

Meld News

Planning for The MELD this coming September is well underway. We have 4 Committees working on the social and educational events, creating the sim location, and liaising with our network of affiliates on their participation and advertising. At every meeting we feel the excitement building as the vision for this community event takes form. These teams are having a great experience sharing their skills and learning, meeting new people and building connections, and we are having a good amount of fun as a group too. There is still an opportunity to join a committee for the MELD 2023. Collect an application form from The MELD advertising board located at the FCC Kiosk. This board also supplies you with information about the event, a group joiner link, information on creating a profile pick to assist with advertising The MELD, and a link to make a donation. We are greatly appreciative of all those who are contributing their time, skills, money and resources to make this event happen. This is the community's event, so feel free to get involved. We will ...... 'See you at The MELD!'
